How to begin?

What is ev3 MindStorm Robot? The EV3 Mindstorms Robot is a cool LEGO kit that lets you build and program your own robots. It comes with special LEGO pieces, motors, sensors, and a brain (the programmable brick) that you can use to make your robot move, sense its environment, and do all sorts of fun stuff.

You can use a special APP(called ev3 Classroom) to write programs that control how your robot behaves. It's like playing with LEGOs but with the added bonus of making your creations come to life and do cool things!

This is where you start programming!

  • Step 1: What you want the robot to do?
  • Step 2: Build your robot design
  • Step 3: Begin programming
  • Step 4: Test and experiment
  • Step 5: Didn't work? Go back to step 2

I am going to guide you to learn:

  • 1- Building: You will build the same robot I am using!
  • 2- Programming: I will show you from basic programming blocks to advance!
  • (Below will be your guide(click the arrow))

WE BEGIN!

Follow these steps:

  1. 1 It’s time for building! Download my PDF to build the robot:
  2. 2 Begin programming: There are 10 topics we're going to learn. (Begin with block pink: movement)

Frequent questions:

Why do some errors occur with my robot/programming?

The robot it’s tight and I can't move it because I haven’t stop the robot.

Press the play/stop button:

Press stop

-> Because you may have 2 yellow block of [When program starts]

-> Because your wheels are not fully attached.

-> Set the wrong port (motor)

-> Did not set the pair motor movement (refer to the pink block for more info)

-> The cables are not fully connected.

The battery is low.

  • Don't worry if it's different. Every robot have their own measurement of degrees/rotations.
  • -> Some reasons why this happen might be:
  • -> You put "rotations" instead of "degrees"
  • -> Different type of ground.(I used rough wooden ground in some videos. And slippery in others)
  • -> Weight of your robot

  • Check the color sensor:
    • -> If the it shows red light: it’s for black and white only. It shows this when you use[light reflection].
    • -> If it shows red/green/blue colors: it's for all the colors. When you use [colors]

CHECK robot’s weight and balance. The robot should weight the same left and right.

It happens mostly for one Motor ( you may call it [Robot’s arm]) because it never reached the degrees you wanted.

To fix it: give less degrees
